Linda's Artist Statement

“As a child growing up on a family farm in rural Texas, I developed a deep and profound love for nature and, especially, for wildflowers. That experience is still part of who I am today and is my inspiration. As an artist, I have chosen to express my soul through interpretive, colorful wildflower paintings that allow the viewer to become part of the experience. By using a somewhat abstract technique, I invite the person looking at my artwork to delve deeper into themselves as well as the paintings, which creates an opportunity for the viewer to personalize the experience. Through my art, I am sharing the simple joy I see in wildflowers for generations to come. I have often been told that my paintings are ‘happy.’ If my art brings joy to someone’s heart and spirit, what more could I ask for?"

About Linda

Picture
Linda Calvert Jacobson grew up in South Texas where wildflowers bloom profusely from Spring through early Summer. This annual color explosion is her inspiration. A native of Floresville, Texas, she has been drawing since she was old enough to hold a pencil and painting since the age 14. Linda credits her parents with encouraging her as a child to paint and study art, which has become a life-long passion. From her home in the Texas Hill Country in 2003, Linda began developing a new style of painting wildflowers, a contemporary style that is uniquely her own....

About David

Picture
David Jacobson is a self-proclaimed number-one fan of Linda's wildflower art. With a background in horticulture and photography, his love of nature and design gives him an appreciation for fine art. As Linda began offering more classes and going national with her own art, it was only natural for them to team up. David travels with Linda to promote her artwork to galleries and at shows. While he has mostly been behind the scenes, David took the reins as manager when they opened their gallery, working with clients and collectors to assist them in finding just the right painting for their home or business.

Their Love Story

Picture
Linda and David met on America Online in 1995. At the time, Linda was teaching communication studies at Texas Lutheran College, painting only in her spare time, and David was a partner in a fruit tree business on the Big Island of Hawaii. Within a few months and after sharing thousands of words through messages, e-mails, letters and phone calls, they met in person and confirmed what was in their hearts. David moved to Texas the following February and they were married on Easter Sunday 1996.

Wildflower Art Gallery, Wimberley, Texas

Picture
On Valentine's Day 2015, Linda and David opened their first brick-and-mortar gallery to showcase Linda's wildflower art. The gallery is located in Wimberley, Texas, not far from the couple's home in nearby Fischer. As gallery manager, David runs the day-to-day operations and assists clients in finding just the right piece of original art or gifts. He also sets up appointments for in-home/business viewings. In addition to Linda's wildflowers, the gallery represents a few select guest artists, each with unique visions of their own.

Casa de Linda Art Studio, Wimberley, Texas

Picture
In early 2017, Linda relocated her studio from New Braunfels to Wimberley. The space is not only larger and more suitable for both classes and as her working studio, but it's also just across the street and a few doors down from Wildflower Art Gallery.
As always has been the case, when the studio is not being used for teaching, Linda will hide away there to work on her own art and paint her wildflowers.  The studio is not open to the public nor does Linda keep any regular business hours there. However, she is available by appointment and occasionally will schedule a Studio Open House or be open for downtown events. Be sure to sign up for Linda's e-news to stay in the know about what's going in Linda's "life as an artist."
